GOP frontrunner Donald Trump revealed his strategy for dealing with the Islamic State: “You have to take out their families.”

By telephone on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, Trump responded to host Brian Kilmeade’s question on how he would handle the situation in Syria.  “ISIS is our number one threat,” he said.  “I would knock the hell out of ISIS.”

In a followup question about civilian casualties, Trump said he’s “try his best” to avoid them, but added, “When you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families! They care about their lives, don’t kid yourselves. They say they don’t care about their lives. But you have to take out their families.”

The billionaire explained that ISIS terrorists use their families for protection.  “They’re using them as shields,” he said.

President Obama’s Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph Dunford, testified before Congress Tuesday that ISIS has not been contained, contradicting the president’s own statements.  Trump slammed Obama, repeating his oft-spoken mantra, “He doesn’t know what he’s doing.”

“Don’t talk about it,” Trump said about troop movements. “You send the troops quietly. These people have targets on their head.”

Accusing the president of putting climate change above terrorism as a national priority, Trump said would not have gone to the climate change conference in Paris. “I might have sent maybe a vice president, but that might be too high a position.”
