Star Wars star Carrie Fisher has lashed out at a British movie chain for banning a religious film from its theaters.
Fisher, who once again plays Princess Leia in the latest installment of the movie franchise that opens the week before Christmas, said she had “no idea” why Digital Cinema Media would ban the one-minute long film, the Daily Mail reported.
According to the Mail the theater chain decided to ban the Church of England’s ad for its #JustPray campaign because it feared its message might offend patrons.
“Offended? No. People should get a life,” Fisher, 53, said. “I don’t think it is offensive to have a ‘power of prayer’ advert before Star Wars.”
She likened the film to having a copy of the Bible in a hotel room.
“I have never seen an advertisement like this, but if the theater is like a hotel room, then they have every right to put up a power of prayer advert,” Fisher said. “It’s advertising, so it has to be advertisers that are objecting.”
