For the 10th consecutive year, a hurricane has not made landfall in Florida, even though hurricanes can form outside the designated season. Florida is set to crack down on skimmers at gas pumps – With the simple swipe of a credit card at a gas station pump, it’s become easier for identity thieves to steal customers’ information and rack up fraudulent charges in their names. State Sen. Anitere Flores’ family knows this all too well; a close family member’s credit card information was stolen from a gas station “skimmer” two years ago in Miami, she said. Read more
South Florida gobbles turkey and heads for the mall – Thanksgiving Day: It’s all about turkey, pilgrims and doorbusters. The holiday shopping season began on Thanksgiving as the first stores opened for what has become a two-day shopping spree known as Grey Thursday and Black Friday. Rhonda Torres, 56, of Boynton Beach lined up outside JCPenney in Boynton Beach before the store’s 3 p.m. opening, with about 50 people in front of her. Read more
