Trump: ‘Yes, I would bring back waterboarding . . . it’s peanuts compared to what they’re doing to us’

abc-this-week-trumpRepublican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday that he would bring back the enhanced interrogation methods such as waterboarding that were used during the George W. Bush administration and criticized by many Democrats.

The issue was brought up at about the 2:30 mark. Trump’s response was unequivocal.

“I think waterboarding is peanuts compared to what they’re doing us,” he told George Stephanopoulos, host of ABC’s “This Week” in a telephone interview.

“We have to be strong. They don’t use waterboarding, they used chopping off people’s heads,” he explained. “They use drowning people. I don’t know if you have seen with the cages, where they put people in cages  and they drown them in the ocean and they lift out the cage, and we are taking about waterboarding.”

“So you’d bring back waterboarding?” the ABC host asked.

“I would bring it back, yes, I would bring it back. I think waterboarding is peanuts compared to what they’re doing us. What they did to James Foley, when they chopped off his head. That’s a whole different level. I would absolutely bring back interrogation and strong interrogation.”
