Celebrated songstress Adele gave credit for part of her career success to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
The singer of hits like “Rolling In The Deep” said during a BBC interview that “the stars aligned” in 2008 and put her on the same stage as the tea party favorite which helped to launch her career.
Palin was scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live the week after the singer but because of scheduling conflicts during the 2008 presidential campaign her appearance was switched to the the week Adele was on, she told BBC.
“It was one of the most watched ‘SNLs’ ever and then it was two weeks before the Grammy ballot, which is when people decide what songs they want to maybe nominate, so, like, literally the stars aligned for me,” she said.
“The album shot to number one on iTunes and I was nominated for a Grammy and then I won one! It was a joke! It was a joke. All thanks to Sarah Palin!” she added.
In response Palin sent Adele a signed copy of her book “Sweet Freedom” along with a note using titles of her songs as puns.
The note read as follows.
“Adele, You look so great! So beautiful! So … Rumor Has It you recently threw me some credit for your amazing success – very kind coming from Someone Like You! Congrats on motherhood. Keep Setting Fire to the Rain. Love, your fan … Sarah Palin.”
She posted a picture of it to her Facebook page Saturday.
