Eagles of Death Metal singer relives horror in first interview; fans hiding in band’s dressing room were slaughtered

For the first time, Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes described the brutal terrorist attack at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris on November 13.

He sat next to band member Joshua Homme, who wasn’t there during the massacre, and related that while the Eagles of Death Metal survived, some of the people closest to them did not.

“They include the band’s merchandise manager, Nick Alexander, as well as three colleagues from their record label, Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez,” Vice reported.

Some audience members, who sought refuge in their dressing room, also did not survive.

“Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket,” Hughes said with emotion rising.

“People were playing dead and they were so scared,” he added.

Loyalty also played a role in the carnage.

“So many people were killed because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends,” Hughes said. “So many people put themselves in front of people.”

Video of the moment shots were first fired in the concert hall was described as “bone chilling.”

Watch this short clip from the full Vice interview, which will be released later this week.

Video, taken by Le Monde journalist Daniel Psenny, depicted concert attendees fleeing from every avenue of escape they could find, one even hanging from a window.
