A former GOP congressman is feeling the public’s wrath after trying to make a point using a gruesome image of the Paris massacre.
Tom Tancredo, a 2008 presidential contender from Colorado, blasted both Obama and his state’s governor, John Hickenlooper, using the unedited image.
The ghastly scene shows bodies and carnage strewn across the floor of the Bataclan Theater after at least one hundred concert goers were taken hostage, many them of indiscriminately shot.
“Celebrating Diversity: one massacre at a time” read one of Tancredo’s two posts. He also included an “ISIS promotions” logo, alongside the Obama horizon logo overlaid with the Muslim symbol. (Warning: graphic content ahead)
Presumably referring to Syrian refugees Tancredo also added, “Coming soon to a concert hall near you!”
It’s not clear if it was the sarcastic tone, the image itself, or the combination of both that set off so many of his former constituents. But, the fury spread throughout Colorado and beyond.
Despite calls that Tancredo remove the posts, Facebook as allowed the images to remain. Tancredo hasn’t seemed to back down from his stance and found about as much support for his brutal perspective as he did backlash.
