Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is finding out what it’s like to be the king of the mountain — everyone else scrambles to pull you down.
Carson’s life story is compelling — rising from a troubled youth in inner-city Detroit to a becoming a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon. But now, some are saying maybe his story is too compelling — especially the “troubled youth” part.
Carson had earlier claimed that he had “flashes of temper” as a child, resulting in him going after a relative with a knife and his mother with a hammer. CNN is spending an exorbitant amount of time trying to refute that claim, on the basis of interviews with nine of his childhood acquaintances from 50 years ago.
The far-left publication Salon joined CNN, and tweeted:
#CNN gives #Carson‘s background colonoscopy. Calls him a liar. Salon joins in. Some blacks don’t tow the line. https://t.co/WPCqzC8Ia2 #tcot

Carson appeared on “The Kelly File” Thursday to answer his critics, calling it “an attempt to smear and deflect the argument to something else” by CNN.
“It’s a smear campaign, and I’m not going to play that game with them,” he told Fox News host Megyn Kelly. “Let them go ahead and play their silly games. We have much more important things to do.”

CNN’s claims drip with irony. They’re trying to smear Carson by saying he was a nice kid, while ignoring the real story — that Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has demonstrated time and again that she’s a liar.
Kelly pointed out that Carson called the intense media scrutiny a witch-hunt, many on Twitter agree.
Ben Carson beats Hillary in national election poll, now the liberal media political “witch hunt” begins. https://t.co/1I7WNCL8E3

@FredZeppelin12 Isn’t it Insanity Trying to prove someone Didn’t stab a person then did? Yet, Clinton’s real crimes get covered & hushed up — over the edge (@OverTheEdge55) November 6, 2015
.@FredZeppelin12 Right now Ben Carson is Hillary Clintons biggest threat. he’s a successful black intelligent ethical gentlemen.

Is the #media for real? #HillaryClinton lies and is shielded, #BenCarson speaks the truth & sets off a witch hunt? https://t.co/VwPfD3eQ40

@FredZeppelin12 @CarmineZozzora oh if only they had this much passion for finding the truth w/all of HRC’s “transgressions”

Some suggested that Carson should follow Clinton’s lead on her email scandal.
@sj81252 @FredZeppelin12 Well, of course! And then he’d be a “winner” & “presidential” like Hillary… — Susan Young (@smaryoung) November 6, 2015
And then there was this:
@FredZeppelin12 @RickCanton It’s pretty hard to prove a negative, but we can laugh while Democrats try.
— HotDogVendor (@fatheromalley1) November 6, 2015
On that note, there’s an old axiom that says one cannot prove a negative. Yet CNN went forward with its “investigative” piece, attempting to do just that — to prove that Carson’s story never happened.
