Bill O’Reilly destroyed President Obama’s push to release drug offenders from prison before their sentences are served, listing the reasons why “sympathy for drug dealers” is a terrible idea.
In his “Talking Points” segment Monday on “The O’Reilly Factor,” the Fox News host revealed what he believes is the real reason the president wants to empty prisons of drug offenders.
In October, the president touted his plan to grant early release to about 6,000 federal prisoners when he toured a prison in Oklahoma.
Though the public is being told that the release is to save money, O’Reilly offered a different explanation.
“The liberal point of view is that selling heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine is a nonviolent action,” he said, adding that nearly 44,000 people died in 2013 from drug overdoses, with thousands more killed in automobile accidents resulting from illegal drug use.
Obama agreed with these statistics in a series of tweets in October.
120 Americans die every day from drug overdoses – most involving legal prescription drugs. That’s more than from car crashes.

The main reason the president is releasing thousands of drug dealers from prison, O’Reilly said, is racism. “The left firmly believes that police target African Americans more than whites in the narcotics trade,” he said.
O’Reilly added that liberals believe that drugs are more of a personal choice than something to be punished—they really want all drugs to be legal—and that instead of incarceration, the left prefers rehabilitation. “The problem is, rehab never works, unless the individual wants to get off drugs or alcohol,” said O’Reilly.
“Here’s the worst part of President Obama’s foolish policy: It sends a message to young people, to drug dealers, to drug users that society doesn’t believe this is a dangerous and immoral situation,” he said, calling the “acceptance and promotion of addictive substances” a “national disgrace” which “enslaves, kills and harms people.”
“Yet President Obama is making it a priority to give folks who sell hard drugs leniency. Awful,” O’Reilly concluded.
Conservatives on social media agreed.
@WhiteHouse @POTUS Because of the state of our country, this release will increase crimes. You’ll see. There’s no stable criminal reform. — POLITICOPUNDITX (@PoliticoPunditX) November 3, 2015
@WhiteHouse @POTUS releasing thousands of drug dealers just creates the condition that makes Americans vulnerable to violent crime.

@WhiteHouse @POTUS Oh my god, you propped up ONE (1). For every convict there is at least 1 victim. Drug sellers it’s worse than that. — Sally Eponym (@UREponym) November 3, 2015
@WhiteHouse @POTUS that’s a great story. It sounds like there’s already programs in place to reduce recidivism. Don’t reinvent then wheel.
