Trump leads Florida thanks to Rubio, Bush split – A new poll of Florida Republicans shows Donald Trump the clear frontrunner in the Sunshine State. With 27 percent support of likely GOP voters, Trump leads his nearest rival, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., by 11 points. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is a distant fourth, tied with Texas Sen. Latvala’s campaign has pulled in $172,752 in the first 19 days it was in operation, and only spent $6,090, leaving his campaign account with $166,662 cash on-hand. Read more
Bill filed to create Florida Holocaust Memorial – Coral Springs Rep. Jared Moskowitz filed a bill Monday to create a Florida Holocaust Memorial at the state Capitol in Tallahassee. Moskowitz’s HB 513 would direct the Department of Management Services to receive recommendations from the Florida Historical Commission on where and how to build a memorial within the Capitol complex honoring the millions of victims of Nazi extermination and labor camps. Ben Carson draws 1,500 at north Florida bookstore – More than 1,500 people in one of the biggest Democratic strongholds in Florida stood in line for more than an hour to meet the man who is suddenly leading the race for the Republican nomination for president. When retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson arrived in Tallahassee on Monday morning as part of a 13-city Florida book signing tour, he said the crowd only proved what he has known from the start of his campaign, which seemed such a longshot six months ago.
