New House Speaker Paul Ryan revealed Sunday that the outgoing speaker left him a little gift that he didn’t much appreciate — the smell of spent cigarettes.
The Wisconsin Republican, who has a reputation as a health and fitness aficionado, NBC News host Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press” Sunday that he’s having trouble clearing the speaker’s office of the stench of burned tobacco left by John Boehner.
“They have these ozone machines, apparently, that you can detoxify the environment. But I’m going to have to work on the carpeting in here,” he said.
This proves to be a real nuisance for Ryan, because he has chosen to continue his practice of sleeping in his office due to his typical 6:00 am to 11:30 pm work routine.
“You know, if you ever go to like a hotel room or get a rental car that’s been smoked in? That’s what this smells like.” he told Todd.
