Mayor’s race: Paulson sues state Democratic party, Dyer over mailers – Orlando mayoral candidate Paul Paulson filed a lawsuit in Orange County circuit court Thursday, accusing the state Democratic party and his opponent, Buddy Dyer, of defaming him in recent political mailers. The mailers in question, which were sent by the Florida Democratic Party to Orlando residents, took aim at Paulson’s handling of one of his nonprofits, Help the Vets. Read more

State attorney addresses Corey Jones shooting outside Palm Beach County courthouse – Palm Beach County state attorney Dave Aronberg addressed a crowd of several hundred people Wednesday about the Corey Jones shooting during a rally outside the county courthouse. Police said Jones, 31, was stranded on the side of Interstate 95 in Palm Beach Gardens on Oct. 18 when he was approached by Officer Nouman Raja. “Officer Raja was not in uniform,” Aronberg said at the rally. Orlando man who killed family executed Thursday night – An Orlando man convicted of killing his family was executed Thursday night, Associated Press reported Thursday. Jerry Correll, 59, was put to death Thursday, months after his execution was postponed. His sentence was delayed because of the controversy surrounding the drugs used to execute death row inmates.
