Days after a New York City cop was gunned down, President Obama tried to defend the Black Lives Matter movement – even as they took to the streets of Times Square to protest the police.
The president met with law enforcement officials at the White House on Thursday to preach to them about where they need to change.
Black Lives Matter protesters on Saturday were on the streets of the city where Officer Randolph Holder was killed by a career criminal earlier this week, chanting slogans like “F**k the police,” just feet away from Hollywood elitist Quentin Tarantino and perennial protester Cornel West.
The New York Post called it all “nonsense on steroids” in a front page story published on Saturday, Obama fuels the flames of the anti-cop movement.
These are the president’s shock troops. Obama and confidante Valerie Jarrett earlier met with the radicals leading the Black Lives Matter movement and encouraged them to keep going, the group has said.
Obama, at last Thursday’s event, praised the group again while also claiming that “everybody understands that all lives matter. Everybody wants strong, effective law enforcement. Everybody wants their kids to be safe when they are walking across the street. Nobody wants to see police officers who are doing their jobs fairly hurt. Everybody understands it’s a dangerous job.”
His saying so doesn’t make it true. The anti-police movement sweeping urban areas proves that many people actually don’t want strong law enforcement, and don’t have any respect for police work. Many, including those Obama met with, appear to hate all cops.
The Post pointed out that by ignoring the fact that 90 percent of young, black males are killed by young, black males Obama missed the point.
Had Obama acknowledged those realities, and spent serious time in his presidency working toward reducing black crime, he would have far more standing to criticize police and prosecutors.
Indeed, he could have, and should have, cited the murder of Officer Holder as an example of the complexity of the issues. An immigrant from Guyana, the 33-year-old Holder came from a family of police officers there and, after five years on the NYPD, had won several awards and aimed to become a detective. The president might have cited Holder’s sacrifice, if only to show he understands how a police shooting strikes at the heart of other cops and society as a whole.
Obama also could have cited Holder’s alleged killer to make another point. Tyrone Howard, 30, is a career criminal who has been arrested 28 times over the last 16 years, including once for the shooting of a 9-year-old boy. Even Mayor de Blasio, who won office by demonizing cops, called Howard “a hardened and violent criminal” who “should not have been on the streets.”
All of that common sense was lost on an ivory tower leftist like Tarantino who believes police officers are the root of the problem.
“This is not being dealt with in any way at all. That’s why we are out here. If it was being dealt with, then these murdering cops would be in jail or at least be facing charges,” he told the crowd in Times Square, as he defended violence in movies as mere “fantasy” and continued to pile on the police.
“A 12-year-old black male child,” the famous director said as the crowd chanted “Tamir Rice.”
On November 22, 2014, Tamir was playing with a toy gun in the park.
“After a 911 call where the person calling said the gun was probably a fake and the person holding it was probably a juvenile, the police rushed on to the scene and shot Tamir within two seconds,” he said as if he knew all the facts in the case intimately.
Tarantino conveniently left out the fact that Rice’s toy gun was stripped of all the markings that made it obvious it was a toy.
For Obama, Tarantino and their far left cohorts facts that are inconvenient to the anti-police narrative are routinely ignored in favor of the type of rabble-rousing witnessed in New York City.
Social media was rife with news, pictures and video of the anti-police protest including an account from Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld.
time for the rest of America to protest the protests. They’re demonizing brave officers, just as one was murdered. https://t.co/Qrtcd5IRs6
