Anti-police protesters in New York City exhibited astounding callousness by staging a demonstration mere days after Officer Randolph Holder was killed by a career criminal.
Meanwhile community leaders, who have grown tired of the anti-police rhetoric, are demanding support for officers.
“People have had enough of the anti-cop protest, and it’s time these people go get a job and find a different agenda,” Sergeants Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins, told Fox News. Mullins was speaking of the protest against “police terror and murder” held Thursday in Times Square, just two days after Holder was murdered by 30-year-old Tyrone Howard.
“It’s just the arrogance of the whole thing,” said Mullins. “This is a naysayer group. If there’s a bit of intelligence put into any of this, they’d realize all their facts are incorrect.”
Not everyone shared Mullins’ sentiment.
“Everyone out here is protesting for their family, so we’re in a constant state of mourning,” Qiara Butler told Fox News, speaking of her cousin Tyrone West. An autopsy had determined that West died of a heart condition that was aggravated during an incident with Baltimore police.
“We’ve been mourning since July 18th [2013] and no one ever stopped their daily routine for our mourning,” Butler said. “So we deserve our time to mourn with the other families as well.”
Local leaders want to know where that same passion is for the police.
“There should be more support for the NYPD and showing their condolences to the NYPD,” Bishop Popeye C.G. Whittingham told New York’s CBS 2, adding that he had not seen support for the police, or Officer Holder, from the “leaders” or “notables” in the anti-police brutality movement.
“Come walk with us. Take a stroll,” Rev. Vernon Williams said, asking East Harlem residents to join in marching for the police rather than against them.
Many Twitter users shared Mullins’ outrage at the timing of the recent anti-police protest.

@foxandfriends I would suggest the cops also rally and when a call comes in from one of the protesters, find something else to do.

@foxandfriends maybe the NYPD should stop protecting and let the drug dealers and criminals take over I’m sure no one will get killed then.
