Christian group creates cartoon against so-called ‘equal rights’ ordinance – men using ladies facilities

Prop 1 CartoonChristian groups who oppose a Houston ordinance to allow men to use female restrooms have created a cartoon to illustrate their point.

The cartoon, released Monday and titled “Protect Freedom, Preserve Safety,” opposes Proposition 1- Houston’s Equal Rights Ordinance and is sponsored by the Texas Values Action and CitizenLink.

It depicts the owner of a gym being jailed for not allowing a man dressed as a woman to change in the women’s locker room in one scene and, in another scene, the man being allowed in the female locker room and frightening the women.

“The ordinance will allow men access to women’s bathrooms, shower rooms, and locker rooms (any ‘place of public accommodation’). The proposed ordinance requires Houston businesses to make all women’s bathrooms, showers, and locker rooms available to all who are dressed in female attire, without regard to biological sex. This will place women and children at risk,” according to the Texas Values website.

According to Ballotpedia, the proposition will appear, rather benignly, on the November 3 ballot sounding very positive, if you don’t know what the measure really means.

“Are you in favor of the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, Ord. No. 2014-530, which prohibits discrimination in city employment and city services, city contracts, public accommodations, private employment, and housing based on an individual’s sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, familial status, marital status, military status, religion, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, gender identity, or pregnancy?”

This is the same proposition that earned former Houston Astros first basemen and Christian, Lance Berkman, flak from the left when he created a radio ad denouncing it.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This article originally stated the ad was sponsored by the Liberty Institute and CitizenLink. It was actually sponsored by Texas Values Action and CitizenLink. Corrections have been made.
