Practice what you preach! Mass shooting SURVIVOR challenges Hillary

kelly-huff“Anger and disbelief” is how a mass shooting survivor described her feelings Monday at Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s suggestion of a gun confiscation program.

Survivor of a 1991 Kileen, Texas mass shooting and a former Democratic state lawmaker, Suzanna Hupp said that at the time of the massacre, which took 24 lives including those of her parents, she was a concealed carry holder, but that she had left her weapon in her vehicle.

The restaurant where the shooting had occurred was a gun free zone and she didn’t want to break the law.

Fox News host Megyn Kelly asked Hupp her thoughts on suggestions that guns be confiscated “despite the Second Amendment.”

“I think Hillary Clinton should lead by example,” she told Kelly. “I think she should disarm her entire security detail and that of her children. Let’s see what that looks like a year from now. Let’s see how well that works out.””

If guns are really the problem, Hupp said, why is it that “We don’t see mass shootings at dreaded gun shows; we don’t see mass shootings at NRA conventions.”

Instead, “we see mass shootings at places where we have made guns illegal,” Hupp said. “These mass shootings occur at places where people are not able to protect themselves.”

Clinton expressed her admiration for Australia’s gun ban at an October 16 town hall meeting at Keene State College, and added that the policy is “worth looking at” in the United States.

“The Australian government as part of trying to clamp down on the availability of … weapons offered a good price for buying hundreds of thousands of guns and basically clamped down going forward, in terms of having more of a background check approach, more of a permitting approach,” Clinton said.
