A veteran senior producer for ABC’s “The View” is suing former co-host Rosie O’Donnell for getting her fired over suspected media leaks.
Former producer Jennifer Shepard-Brookman said she was targeted by O’Donnell when the women were discussing the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley and Brookman switched the coverage to co-host Whoopi Goldberg, according to the New York Post.
After that September 2014 event, O’Donnell went on a rant and got into the producer’s face, the lawsuit’s complaint alleges.
“My client started crying,” Shepard-Brookman’s attorney, Brian Kennedy said in court documents filed with the Manhattan Supreme Court. “She was scared of Rosie and thought she was going to be assaulted.”
Afterwards, according to the court documents, O’Donnell got Shepard-Brookman fired out of spite.
The Foley incident wasn’t the only spat between the producer and O’Donnell.
“During a production meeting, Jennifer began mumbling behind Rosie, who told her, ‘If you have something to say, say it to my face!’ So Jennifer did — she laced into Rosie, and there was a shouting match,” a source told the New York Post.
The Daily Mail reported:
The lawsuit comes at a raw time for O’Donnell, who has had a very public fallout with her daughter, Chelsea.
In an interview with The Daily Mail Online, Chelsea said O’Donnell was duplicitous and projects a different image to the public.
“I find her not genuine a lot of the time,” O’Donnell’s daughter told the Mail.
“When we’d go out, she was a completely different person in public than at home and I had a hard time with that, she said.
“It’s like two different people.”
