So much for the Declaration of Independence.
Eschewing the incredible freedom and opportunity that accompanied the Founding Fathers’ efforts to separate with Great Britain, a frustrated liberal American wrote the Queen of England and asked her to take back the United States, according to the Daily Mail.
But that’s not what’s newsworthy about this story, after all, perpetually offended, ungrateful liberals are nothing new these days. No, what stands out here is that the British Crown apparently replied.
The Mail reported that a copy of the royal reply was posted on Reddit, along with the caption: “Frustrated with the current field of presidential candidates (particularly on the GOP side), my Anglophile friend wrote a trolling letter to the Queen, asking her to take the US back. To our shock, they actually dignified him with a response.”
With prerequisite British politeness, Buckingham Palace showed it had a sense of humor by letting the discontent lib down gently, assuming the letter is legit.
“I have been asked to write in response to your recent letter to The Queen in which you express your views about the American government,” the letter stated.

shuts down politically correct host like no other
“Whilst your views have been noted, you will appreciate, I am sure, that there can be no question of The Queen intervening in the affairs of another Sovereign state.”
And with that stroke of bureaucratic elegance, the second American Revolution was averted.
Nevertheless, the reaction on social media suggests that Her Royal Highness may have her hands full dealing with England’s problems. Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
@DailyMail @MailOnline I think i'll write a letter to her majesty myself and request she helps us here in England.

@DailyMail I would argue its not the Republican candidates, but the President and his lawlessness.

@DailyMail @MailOnline You mean the Queen won’t take us back? Dang! Well, it was worth a try. Maybe Belgium would be interested.
