Democrats often like to refer to the GOP as the party of old white men. The tables have turned.
“CNN Newsroom” anchor Carol Costello observed Friday that if Vice President Joe Biden enters the list of Democratic presidential hopefuls, he’ll be just another old white person, as opposed to the diverse Republican field.
“Let’s switch gears and talk Joe Biden possibly running,” Costello said. “If he enters the race, he’ll just be another white person running on the Democratic side, right? If you take a look at the Republican side, some say it’s the most diverse in history.”
Republican advisor, Amanda Carpenter, agreed and added age into the mix.
“It’s just plain kind of old, right Robert?” Costello asked, turning to Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman.
He agreed, but claimed that the GOP candidates “campaign like old, rich white people from the 1950’s.”
Non-politician candidates Donald Trump, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina would beg to differ.
The youthful GOP presidential contender, Marco Rubio, a Cuban-American, noted the age difference when he announced his run at Miami’s Freedom Tower.
“Just yesterday, a leader from yesterday began a campaign for president by promising to take us back to yesterday” referencing Hillary Clinton’s announcement the day before.
“But yesterday is over, and we are never going back,” he said.
