A feisty one-woman protest outside mosque takes surprising turn

A woman who showed up to protest a Michigan mosque with previous ties to terrorism ended up hugging the people she was protesting against.

The unnamed woman was protesting alone as another group of protesters drove off after seeing she was the only participant.

What happened next was shocking.

Video taken of the incident, and posted by the Noor Islamic Cultural Center, showed the woman being approached by a white male who asked her if she’d like to talk. She said she wasn’t interested, telling him she wasn’t there for him.

The man asked her how she knew he wasn’t a Muslim, to which she responded “Get thee away from me Satan and get to your side of the block.”

He didn’t leave, however, and was soon joined by another woman in a headscarf who came out of nowhere and hugged the protester.

The unnamed woman, who said her husband didn’t want her to go protest, was eventually convinced to join the worshippers inside the mosque for breakfast where she was greeted by applause and posed for selfies.

As nice as the scene was on video, however, there are legitimate questions that have surrounded Noor for years related to terrorism.

In 2009 a 17-year-old girl fled the area and went to Florida after the Center outed her to her parents and spoke out publicly against her for converting to Christianity, according to Fox News.

Court documents from that case also showed the mosque’s leader, Dr. Hany Saqr, “was previously an imam for another area mosque at the same time the largest known Al Qaeda cell in the U.S. since 9/11 was operating out of the mosque.”

A 35-page memorandum at the time also showed the mosque was “directly tied” to Somali-American youths who fled the U.S. to join Al-Shabaab terror camps and played host to Dr. Salah Sultan, a man “photographed with terrorist leaders designated as such by the U.S. government.”

No amount of hugging can cleanse all those connections.

But it It was enough to convince this one protester.
