Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz stands out from the rest of the primary field in one distinct manner — he is the only top-tier GOP candidate not to spar with front-runner Donald Trump.
In fact, the Texas senator has even said he is “glad” Trump is in the race.
But is that sentiment the result of Cruz knowing something America doesn’t know, namely that his rival is not going to be the eventual GOP nominee?
In an interview with WABC’s Rita Cosby set to air on Sunday, Cruz not only suggested that the real estate tycoon will not win, but added that he will end up picking up most of Trump’s supporters.
“I think in time, I don’t believe Donald is going to be the nominee and I think, in time, the lion’s share of his supporters end up with us,” Cruz said.

The two candidates have had a cordial relationship, and even held a joint-rally in Washington last month to protest President Obama’s controversial Iran nuclear deal, but how will Trump, who proudly notes that he’s a counter-puncher, react to Cruz’s prognostication?
Or will Trump choose to ignore Cruz’s effort to downplay his chances?
Cruz gives no indication that he’s ready to get into the ring with Trump, noting that’s how he differs from the others in the field.
“There have been other candidates in this race who have gone out of their way to smack Donald with a two-by-four, and I haven’t been one of them,” he said.
