A Democratic lawmaker mocked House Republicans on Thursday for struggling to find a new Speaker, after the favorite to replace outgoing Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio abruptly withdrew his name from consideration.
Rep. Mark Takano’s (D-Calif.) staff created a fake Craigslist ad for “Speaker of the House” to fill the position and then posted the ad to Facebook and Twitter.
“Are you an American citizen? Do you have experience negotiating hostage situations? Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime? Then this job is for you!” the listing reads.
“Babysitting experience STRONGLY PREFERRED,” Takano wrote, poking fun at the GOP chaos.
Takano tweeted the fake ad.

His staff never actually posted the ad on Craigslist, but took a screen shot in preview.
Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., dropped out of the race for House Speaker on Thursday, shocking Capitol Hill and raising questions about who can lead the House Republican Conference.
McCarthy suggested his colleague, Paul Ryan, step into the race but Ryan declared he had no interest in the position.
Democrats, of course, are absolutely amused by the disarray.
The former White House senior adviser to President Obama, David Axelrod, recommended on Twitter that Republicans take out a Craigslist ad.

Tax fraud Rep. Charlie Rangel also took the opportunity to lampoon the GOP.
