The last gun store in San Francisco is closing for good thanks to the city’s draconian gun laws.
“It’s with tremendous sadness and regret that I have to announce we are closing our shop,” Steve Alcairo, the manager of High Bridge Arms said in a Sept. 11 Facebook post . “It has been a long and difficult ride, but a great pleasure to be your last San Francisco gun shop.”
He said the last straw was when a Supervisor Mark Farrell proposed a law that would require gun shops to video record every gun sale and give police a weekly report on ammunition sales, according to WSVN.
Firearms have been flying off the shelves since the announcement, but Alcairo is still angry about having to close the store.
“This is the city that defended gay marriage and fights for unpopular causes like medical marijuana. Where’s my support?” he asked.
Alcairo won’t be the only person to miss the store.
Chris Cheng, a marksman who won $100,000 on History Channel’s “Top Shot” competition, calls High Bridge his “home store.”
“High Bridge has always taken care of me,” he said but lamented that it has “always been a challenge doing business in San Francisco.”
