Oregon publisher doubles down on anti-Obama sentiment; ‘Now he wants to come… stand on the corpses of our loved ones’

Newspaper publisher David Jaques offered more detail as to why President Obama would not be welcome in Roseburg, Oregon following last week’s mass shooting at Umpqua Community College, which killed 10 and injured 9.

Monday night, on “The O’Reilly Factor,” Jaques, publisher of the Roseburg Beacon, told host Bill O’Reilly that the Douglas County Commissioners and elected Sheriff, along with “dozens and dozens of citizens” share the opinion that the president is unwelcome.

Jaques had previously said that the president would not be welcome because it would be nothing more than a “campaign stop” in an effort to ban personal firearms.

When O’Reilly asked Jaques for a further explanation, he replied, “The bottom line, Bill, is that a number of people believe that when the president opened his press conference, we still haven’t finished counting the bodies on the campus right behind me.”

“We haven’t identified whose children were killed or not,” Jaques explained. “And even at that moment, he is saying ‘some people will accuse me of politicizing this issue.  And he goes on to say ‘but it should be.’”

Jaques pointed out the president’s hypocrisy and insensitivity, because “he not only acknowledged that it could be politicized, he was doing so, deliberately.”

“So, now he wants to come to our community, and stand on the corpses of our loved ones, to make some kind of a political point,” he said, adding, “It isn’t going to be well-received, not by our people, not by the families, and not by our elected officials.”

Obama is scheduled to visit Roseburg on Friday, according to a report by USA Today.
