Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump responded to the Oregon shooting that left ten people dead, including the gunman, by saying that, if elected, he would not stop mass shootings like this.
A truthful answer, given that there will always be sick people in society who will find a way to do terrible things, and no president can prevent that.
But, leave it to the media to spin Trump’s words to make it appear as if he doesn’t give a damn — that shootings like this just happen.
A CNN headline Friday, on a story about a Trump interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” screams: “Donald Trump on shooting: ‘Horrible’ but these things happen.”
But is that what the real estate tycoon really said?
Obama forgot to include someone on his school
shooting blame list – and it didn’t go unnoticed!
“You’re going to have these things happen and it’s a horrible thing to behold, horrible,” Trump said, before adding that there are “millions and millions of sick people all over the world” and no laws can prevent these attacks.
“It’s not politically correct to say that, but you’re going to have difficulty and that will be for the next million years, there’s going to be difficulty and people are going to slip through the cracks,” he added. “What are you going to do, institutionalize everybody?”
The candidate pointed to the problem law enforcement faces when it comes to the mentally ill.
“It’s awfully hard to put somebody in an institution for the rest of their lives based on the fact that he looks like he could be a problem,” he said.
A position the liberal media is typically quick to support … unless, apparently, it’s coming from Trump.
