Parents allegedly storm high school football locker room, brawl with players of opposing team

Screenshot (377)A rivalry high school football game in Southern California turned violent, both on and off the field, after a group of parents allegedly attacked several players in retaliation for a penalty that was not called.

Lakewood High School played against Millikan High School in Long Beach on Sept. 25, and the game proved to be rough from the start.

But one personal foul that officials failed to notice apparently motivated a group of adults to take matters into their own hands after the game, by storming the Millikan locker room and attacking at least four students, according to CBS Los Angeles.

At one point in the evening, video footage was taken of a Millikan player trying to kick a Lakewood player in the head after his helmet was knocked off by a rough tackle. The foul, while witnessed by players and parents, was not noticed by officials at the time.

“He just punted him, like he was kicking a ball,” said a Lakewood teammate, who witnessed the incident when he was on the field. “I was like ‘really?’ And I went to the refs, like, ‘how could you not see that?’”

After the game, a group of Lakewood parents – angered by the missed call – allegedly turned violent after pushing past security and storming the Millikan locker room.

Two Millikan players were struck in the face, and two more were grabbed by the neck, according to a Millikan High School football Facebook statement that has since been removed.

“Both Millikan and Lakewood administration are involved along with police reports being filed. This will not be hidden and will not go away, rest assured,” the statement said, according to KTLA 5.

The Facebook post was removed after news of the attack spread, and “things got nasty with comments,” according to a more recent post on the site.

The school district spokesman said the school is aware and taking action, but refused to elaborate, according to CBS.
