Democrats have shown no hesitation in worshiping their “messiah,” President Obama, the past six 1/2 years, but a Pennsylvania lawmaker may have gone a step too far during Pope Francis‘ visit this week.
Seizing his opportunity, U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, D-Pa., beat a deliberate path to the speaker’s podium at the conclusion of the pontiff’s historic address before a joint meeting of Congress — not in hopes of meeting the pope, who had already left, but to swipe the drinking glass used by His Holiness, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.
And the successful heist resulted in a half-full glass of what Brady considered to be holy water.
So much so that he took the glass back to his office, where he drank out of it and offered his wife, Debra, and his staff the same opportunity.
“How many people do you know that drank out of the same glass as the pope?” he asked with pride.

According to the Washington Post, the ten-term lawmaker poured the remaining water into a bottle to later “bless” his four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
“Anything the pope touches becomes blessed,” he told the newspaper. “I think so and no one is going to change my mind.”

Obama’s dress to meet pope; it cost HOW MUCH?
Not surprisingly, given his actions Thursday, this was not the first time Brady has swiped a glass from the podium.
The Post reported that he also took the glass used by President Barack Obama at his first inauguration — there was no word on whether he sprinkled his grandchildren with that water.
And for taxpayers concerned about the cost of the glass, Brady asked the House Architect for a bill, the Post reported. And while they laughed at him, the Democrat said he was going to send a check anyway.
Based on the reaction on social media, more than a few found the incident to be “incredibly creepy,” never mind the spreading of germs.
