Cruz prepared to introduce Ayatollah ‘to his 72 virgins’ if he becomes president

cruzIf his run for the White House doesn’t pan out, Ted Cruz can pursue a stint as a stand-up comedian.

Not that jihadists in the pursuit of 72 virgins would agree.

The Republican presidential contender addressed a gathering at the Values Voter Summit on Friday, and his sense of humor was on display throughout his remarks — to the chagrin of the left.

Cruz began by talking about Pope Francis’ historic visit to Washington, getting in a shot at President Obama.

“I have to say, the press conference was a little awkward, because every time the reporters addressed a question to ‘Your Holiness,’ Barack Obama answered,” he joked.

Clearly enjoying himself, the Texas senator then commented on Chinese President Xi Jinping being in town Friday to meet with Obama.

‘Not very humble!’ Social media RIPS Michelle
Obama’s dress to meet pope; it cost HOW MUCH?

“Media all across the world are reporting on this historic meeting of the world’s most powerful communist – and the president of China,” he deadpanned.

The comment had the crowd in an uproar.

But the joke that was sure to get the opposition going was about Iran’s supreme leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

While drawing a contrast between himself and Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton, Cruz pointed to the nuclear deal with Iran, saying he would “rip to shreds” the agreement if elected president.

“If you vote for Hillary you are voting for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons,” he said. “If you vote for me, under no circumstances will Iran be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. And if the ayatollah doesn’t understand that, we may have to help introduce him to his 72 virgins.”

Cruz was referencing the Muslim belief that Islamic extremists get 72 virgins in the afterlife upon martyrdom.

He got another jab in on Clinton by joking that the upcoming Democratic debate should be held at the military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas — a reference to the email controversy swirling around the Democratic  candidate.
