Amid growing criticism from Democrats and even some Republicans, Republican presidential contender Ben Carson is doubling down on his opinion that a Muslim has no place in the White House.
And his campaign’s business manager isn’t afraid to say so.
“He’s thinking like someone who loves America first, who wants to protect America,” conservative commentator Armstrong Williams told CNN “New Day” co-host Alisyn Camerota on Monday.
“He understands there are tenets of Islam that hates Jews, will kill homosexuals, will kill Muslims, do not advocate the beliefs and value system that made America into the country it is today. It may have been an inconvenient truth but it is a truth,” he continued with growing passion.
“This is why he’s not a politician, this is why he’s not trying to be politically correct,” Williams said. “This is America, it’s a place of freedom of speech.”
“And freedom of religion?” Camerota asked.
“It is not an issue of religion to Dr. Carson. This is an issue of one’s belief system, how they will govern,” he emphasized. “How you look upon people, how you value people is dictated by what you believe.”

And at least one even looked ahead to the next inauguration.
