The ladies on ABC’s “The View” don’t seem to have much respect for the medical profession. Or women, for that matter.
The co-hosts of the popular show continue to show their limited grasp of the world around them as they discussed the Miss America pageant on Monday’s program.
Zeroing in on Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson, co-host Michelle Collins mocked the contestant for her choice of skills to display during the talent portion of the competition.
Johnson, a registered nurse, came out dressed in scrubs with a stethoscope around her neck to give a heartwarming monologue about a patient with Alzheimer’s disease who touched her life.

“The talent, though, I have to say, the woman who won sang opera, and she was incredible. Really good,” Collins said. “But then there was a girl who wrote her own monologue and I was like, ‘Turn the volume up, this is going be amazing, let’s listen’… She came out in a nurse’s uniform and basically read her emails out loud and shockingly did not win.”
While Collins showed no appreciation for the nursing profession, co-host Joy Behar showed how little faith she has in the skills of a nurse.
“Seriously?!” Behar replied. “Why does she have a doctor’s stethoscope on?”
Nurses were only too happy to take to social media and spell it out for Behar and her elitist liberal cohorts. You might even say it was a revolt, with one user reminding “The View” of the golden rule of healthcare: “Don’t piss off the nurse.”
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
So glad doctor used stethoscope 30sec this am so I don’t need to use mine rest of this 12hr shift said NO NURSE EVER #TheView #JoyBehar

.@SimonSaidSo06 90% of the time the docs say “shoot, can I borrow your stethoscope” when they’re rounding #TheView #JoyBehar

Reminder to the ladies of the view, my NURSE stethoscope may help save their lives one day #RespectNurses

Will an apology from @TheView be a monologue of ’emails from their publicists’? #nursesunite

A nurse does more in a day to make others’ lives better than any of the women on @TheView have done in their entire lives. #nursesunite

Golden rule of healthcare, don’t piss off the nurses. @TheView #waytogo

If you gossip for a living you are in no position to say that an opera singer has more talent than a nurse #TheView #JoyBehar
— Lexi (@LexiBeau3) September 16, 2015
I guess you’re an amazing person if you can sing opera, but you’re more of a joke if you take on a career in nursing…right @TheView?

May the hosts of @TheView never need the compassion, patience, and skills of a NURSE (with his/her OWN stethoscope)! #medicine #teamwork

It’s very obvious the ladies on The View do NOT have the compassion, wisdom or respect for human dignity to be “just a nurse.” #nursesunite
