They are two of the most powerful families in politics and they may be set to lock horns.
Caroline Kennedy, the U.S. ambassador to Japan, is said to be angry over revelations in leaked emails that longtime Hillary Clinton confidante, Sidney Blumenthal, worked to sabotage Kennedy’s bid for the New York senate seat Clinton vacated when she became Secretary of State, the New York Post reported.
According to the report, which referred to a Buzzfeed story, Blumenthal worked behind the scenes with Daily Beast owner Tina Brown to plant two stories disparaging Kennedy during the race. One of which referred to her as a “puppet” while the other called her candidacy an “insult.”
Now some in her family are pushing Kennedy to resign her position as ambassador and return home to endorse Joe Biden.
Orb Magazine reported that it isn’t just Blumenthal, but also attacks from Donald Trump, that they want her to battle.
“Rather than stay in Tokyo and let the politicians continue to use her as a punching bag, it would be a profile in courage for her to come home and help elect the person she believes is best qualified to lead the nation.” a source told Orb.
Another source said Kennedy may not be eager to do that, however.
“Caroline may not be ready to give up a plum ambassadorship, but she will likely endorse Joe Biden if he runs,” the source said. “But the Kennedys always play it smart, and other members of the family will surely donate to and support Hillary.”
