Maybe that “Young Victoria” role went to her head.
The British-born actress Emily Blunt lived up to her name – and got bashed on social media — when the Hollywood Reporter published her regrets that she’d ever become an American citizen.
In the story published Monday, Blunt was asked with numerous other predictably liberal Hollywood elite about their hopes for the 2016 presidential race.
“I became an American citizen recently, and that night, we watched the Republican debate and I thought, ‘This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?'”
Besides playing the young Queen Victoria in the 2009 royal biopic, Blunt’s career includes a stint as Meryl Streep’s put-upon assistant in “The Devil Wears Prada” and a well-regarded half-naked scene with Tom Hanks in “Charlie Wilson’s War” (she’s beautiful, but looks really aren’t everything.)
Now, she’s starring as an FBI agent in “Sicario,” due out for release in October.
Judging by the reaction to her comment on social media, she didn’t do her box office any favors.
@DailyCaller take her ass back to Britain then

@DailyCaller She is welcome to go back to where ever she came from!

@DailyCaller Emily Blunt should become a citizen of Iran. No debates to watch there. She could just listen to the Supreme Atatollah.

@DailyCaller Feel free to renounce your American citizenship. We don’t need people as citizens when they don’t have their heart in it.

@DailyCaller Go back to England my Great…Grandfather Robert and Louis Morris fought the British for freedom and liberty, just go home

@DailyCaller So tell her to take her privileged little sorry ass back to wherever she came from. There, problem solved.

@dbongino I volunteer to escort her on a 1-way flight back to the UK. What a twit!

What’s really odd is that Blunt appeared Monday on the “Ellen DeGeneres” show and dressed up as the Statue of Liberty to sing “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”
Obviously, her heart wasn’t in it.
This social media user, with apologies to Ann Coulter, summed it up pretty well.
@DailyCaller Adios Ms Blunt.
