British actress REGRETS becoming a US citizen after GOP debate; insulted Americans say, ‘problem solved’

emilyblunt0914dressMaybe that “Young Victoria” role went to her head.

The British-born actress Emily Blunt lived up to her name – and got bashed on social media — when the Hollywood Reporter published her regrets that she’d ever become an American citizen.

In the story published Monday, Blunt was asked with numerous other predictably liberal Hollywood elite about their hopes for the 2016 presidential race.

“I became an American citizen recently, and that night, we watched the Republican debate and I thought, ‘This was a terrible mistake. What have I done?'”

Besides playing the young Queen Victoria in the 2009 royal biopic, Blunt’s career includes a stint as Meryl Streep’s put-upon assistant in “The Devil Wears Prada” and a well-regarded half-naked scene with Tom Hanks in “Charlie Wilson’s War” (she’s beautiful, but looks really aren’t everything.)

Now, she’s starring as an FBI agent in “Sicario,” due out for release in October.

Judging by the reaction to her comment on social media, she didn’t do her box office any favors.

What’s really odd is that Blunt appeared Monday on the “Ellen DeGeneres” show and dressed up as the Statue of Liberty to sing “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”

Obviously, her heart wasn’t in it.

This social media user, with apologies to Ann Coulter, summed it up pretty well.
