Far-left actor and political expert wannabe George Clooney blasted Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump for his remarks about illegal immigrants — especially those from Mexico.
Speaking at a news conference Saturday at the Toronto Film Festival, Clooney referred to Trump’s comments as “idiotic” and said that history will not smile on the billionaire real estate developer, according to the Daily Mail.

“Clearly, what he said is idiotic,” Clooney told reporters. “Of course it’s idiotic.”
Clooney was noting Trump’s comments, when he announced his candidacy, referring to Mexican illegal immigrants as “rapists” and other countries saddling the U.S. with their problems.
“Anybody who says as intolerant words as those should be laughed at, and that’s pretty much [what] I think eventually history will do,” Clooney said.
Clooney also expressed shock at the supercharged candidate’s rising poll numbers.
“Who’d have thought Donald Trump would be at 30 percent?” he asked.
Trump is the first GOP candidate out of a field of 16 to break through the 30 percent mark. A CNN/ORC poll released last week gives him 32 percent support among likely Republican voters.
Each time Trump makes a comment most observers believe is outrageous, his poll numbers seem to rise.
He called the United States “a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems” at his June campaign kickoff.
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” he said. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us,” he said before getting to specifics.
“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”
The Daily Mail reported:
Clooney, 54, isn’t the only Hollywood star to speak out against Trump recently.
Matt Damon, Clooney’s former co-star in the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise, said last month that Trump’s comments were ‘disgusting.’Damon, whose wife Luciana Barroso is an Argentine immigrant, said: ‘He is talking about anyone who lives south of our border in inhuman terms. He is talking about my wife, my daughters.
Musicians Shakira and Ricky Martin and actress Eva Longoria have also voiced their disapproval of Trump.
In her book “Shut Up & Sing,” conservative author and radio talk show host Laura Ingraham had remarked on the tendency of entertainers to spout off on things political of which they usually have very little understanding.
In Clooney’s case, he should shut up and act.
