Finding the term “childless” offensive, “Sex and the City” actress Kim Cattrall considers herself a mother even though she’s never birthed a child.
Cattrall, 59, told the BBC that she hold this view due to the active role she plays in the lives of her extended family and younger friends.
“I am not a biological parent, but I am a parent. I have young actors and actresses that I mentor. I have nieces and nephews that I am very close to,” she said.
Redefining motherhood may be the first logical step in placing financial responsibility of all residents at the feet of taxpayers.
In Hillary Clinton’s book “It Takes a Village,” Clinton introduced the concept that all children belong to government. With that idea largely rejected in 1996, reforming the concept of motherhood may be the best way to reintroduce the idea to a society being asked to provide financial backing to those who choose not to work.
Cattrall seems to be the logical choice to be a vehicle for this new movement. On HBO’s award winning “Sex and the City” program, she played a character known for sexual promiscuity and succeeded at creating a venue for acceptance of such a lifestyle.
