Greta hammers Trump about his ‘low rent’ comments about Carly Fiorina’s looks

greta-donald (1)Greta Van Susteren says Donald Trump is insulting women.

The Fox News host took on the Republican presidential front-runner for what she called his “low-rent” comments about fellow GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, and for his claim that the remarks were about her “persona,” not her looks.

“Look at that face!” Trump said of Fiorina in a Rolling Stone interview. “Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!”

Despite the words he used, Trump later said he was talking about her “persona,” not her looks.

Right off the bat, Van Susteren hit Trump with his comments about Fiorina.

Trump insisted he was talking about her persona, and brought up her dismissal from Hewlett-Packard.

“She hasn’t done well,” he said, “and the only reason I bring it up is that, frankly, she hit me, she attacked me, and I therefore have to respond.”

Van Susteren wasn’t buying what Trump was selling.

“I don’t think you’re a first-time offender making a personal crack at a woman,” she said, adding that “the remark was about her face and not her persona.”

Trump later said, “No one will protect women more than I do.”

Van Susteren countered that women’s issues are “fair game,” adding that “I thought it was low-rent to take a swipe at her looks.”

Fiorina surged in the polls after a stellar performance in last month’s Fox News GOP second-tier presidential debate, which earned her a place on the main stage for next week’s CNN Republican debate.

One sore spot on Fiorina’s record was her ouster from Hewlett-Packard in 2005.

An HP board member recently took out a full-page ad in The New York Times that says that on reflection, she did a bang-up job for the company.

Titled, “ICYMI: TOM PERKINS, “THE TRUTH ABOUT CARLY”, Perkins says, “Not only did she save the company from the dire straits it was in, she laid the foundation for HP’s future growth.”
