Hillary Clinton put on brave face at a “Women for Hillary” event in Ohio on Thursday, announcing emphatically that she would absolutely “love” to debate Donald Trump.
“I have to say, if he emerges, I would love to debate him,” Clinton said.
This from a woman who won’t debate presidential contenders from her own Democratic Party.
Clinton built up her “challenge” by painting Trump as a misogynistic jerk, and was met with thunderous applause – albeit from a small crowd.
To say that Trump did not appear to be the least bit intimidated when he spoke about Clinton’s debate challenge Thursday night on Fox News’ “On the Record” would be an understatement.
“I think beating her in a debate would be one of the easy challenges of my life,” Trump flatly said.
Show host Greta Van Susteren reminded Trump that in 2012 he had kind words for Clinton and called her a “terrific woman,” saying at the time that he thought “she really works hard.”
Trump chalked all that up to business “obligations.”
“I’m not going to say bad things about major politicians in this country when I’m running a major company where I need things,” Trump said. “I have international trade, I have international businesses. I’m not going to go around saying bad things about people.”
Until now, that is.
