Black lives are said to matter, but that courtesy does not appear to extend to white lives in Pennsylvania.
With racial animosity at a high in President Obama’s “post-racial” America, thanks in large part to the White House ginning up feelings of victimization among African-Americans, a gang of black youths attacked two brothers Sunday for little more than being white.
Harrisburg Police Chief Thomas Carter said the mob “savagely assaulted” the brothers, ages 16 and 19, who were set upon as they walked to their car after watching a fireworks display at the Kipona festival, according to the Patriot-News.
Carter acknowledged the assault had a “racial overtone” to it, saying the young blacks involved yelled racial comments at the brothers, who had been “minding their own business.”

The younger brother may have suffered a broken jaw, and the older brother had bruising and swelling from trying to protect his little brother, the police chief said.
“That should not have happened,” Carter said. “Believe me, we’re not going to tolerate it.”
The appalling incident capped a wild weekend of “mayhem,” according to ABC affiliate WHTM. More than a 100 black youths where involved in an ugly scene Saturday night that included jumping on cars and ransacking a convenience store.
Shots were also fired, with a 15-year-old boy being struck in the leg — WHTM reported that it was later determined he shot himself.
Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse made excuses for the unruly mob, calling it a “very isolated incident,” the Patriot-News reported.
Speaking like a true Democrat, Papenfuse stressed that it’s important to reflect on the root causes of the unrest, which “has to do with a lack of economic opportunity, as well as lack of educational opportunity.”
