Presidential candidate wants US to take on 65,000 refugees; some say take care of America first

While the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis is bringing some European countries to their knees trying to deal with the influx of migrants, at least one Democrat believes the U.S. should take in tens of thousands of them.

Democratic presidential hopeful and, coincidentally, the man who apologized for saying “all lives matter,” Martin O’Malley tweeted a statement yesterday calling on the United States to take in 65,000 of the refugees.

“I support the call from humanitarian and refugee organizations for the United States to accept at least 65,000 Syrian refugees next year,” he wrote. “If Germany — a country with one-fourth our population — can accept 800,000 refugees this year, certainly we — the nation of immigrants and refugees — can do more.”

Perhaps the former Maryland governor has had his head in the sand, blissfully unaware of the ongoing illegal immigration crisis that has the U.S. at a breaking point. Maybe he has no idea that Italian intelligence officials discovered in February an Islamic State plan to flood Europe with refugees as a “psychological weapon” and sneak soldiers of the caliphate in with them, according to the Daily Mail.

Either way social media users were less than thrilled with his idea.
