Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke on Monday took heart from the weekend’s mourning for a Texas deputy murdered at a filling station Friday, but wasted no words in pointing out where the blame for Black Lives Matter violence belongs.
“President Obama has breathed life into this ugly movement,” Clarke told “Fox & Friends.” “It is time now for good, law-abiding Americans to rise up like they did in Houston around that Chevron station, an outpouring. But it can’t just be symbolic, we now have to counter this slime, this filth coming out of these cop haters.”
In typically blunt style, Clarke said news coverage of the murder of Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth – allegedly by a black man named Shannon Miles – should be headlined “Black man shoots white defenseless police officer,” since coverage of police shootings of black men always emphasize the race of those involved.
Asked if Obama’s attention to police activity since the Ferguson riots from last year — whether he had “shed light” on the problem of minority unrest with police officer, Clarke scoffed.
“President Obama didn’t shed light on anything,” he said. “If there’s anything that needs to be fixed in this country, it is the subculture that has risen out of the underclass in the American ghetto. Fix the ghetto and you’ll see a lesser need for assertive police officers or assertive policing in these areas – and then you’ll see less confrontation.
“Stop trying to fix the police and fix the ghetto.”
