Reporter’s dad says her murder is making him pursue tougher gun laws – and BUY A GUN

Andy Parker Alison ParkerThe father of Alison Parker, the reporter executed on live television this week, says he is considering getting a gun even as he pushes for tougher gun restrictions.

Shortly after his daughter and cameraman Andy Ward were killed by former co-worker Vester Lee Flanagan on Wednesday during a televised interview in Virginia, Andy Parker made it his mission to pursue tougher restrictions on gun ownership.

But, he said, doing so puts his life in danger.

“When you’re in the media, as you know, and when you’re taking on an issue like this, there are a lot of people that take exception to what you’re saying,” he said during a press conference outside the WDBJ-TV studio where his daughter worked.

“I don’t own a gun. We don’t have a gun in our family,” he said. “I’m probably going to have to get one. Sad to say, but — unfortunately, that’s just the world we live in.”

While Parker acknowledged he hadn’t received any threats, he said he didn’t “want to take any chances.”

Neither does anyone else.
