The cops came and shut down their lemonade stand.
Conservative author Janie Johnson wrote about it in “Don’t Take My Lemonade Stand.” Now it has happened to comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld’s son.
After a non-neighborly neighbor complained about illegally parked vehicles at an unregulated business, police were called to the scene in tony East Hampton, New York, according to local newspaper 27East.
There they found Julian Seinfeld, son of the comedian and his wife, Jessica Seinfeld, along with two of his friends. They were selling lemonade for charity.
After village police shut down their nefarious operation, Jerry Seinfeld posed with his son and friends with their hands on their heads in mock surrender and a village squad car in the background.
Jessica Seinfeld posted the photo on Instagram, along with this notation:
“Lemonade dreams crushed by local neighbor, but not before raising lots of money for @loverecycled,” she wrote in the caption. “Thanks to all of our customers and big tippers! Thanks, Xander and Jaden, for crushing it today with Julian and Jerry.”
27East reported:
East Hampton Village Police Chief Jerry Larsen said police received a complaint about illegally parked vehicles at the location of the lemonade stand. At the scene, an officer advised the Seinfeld family that village code does not permit lemonade stands on village property. The village prohibits all forms of peddling on its property.
While the money was ultimately raised for Ms. Seinfeld’s charity, Baby Buggy, many of Ms. Seinfeld’s Instagram followers expressed their disdain over the neighbor’s complaint and strict policies about lemonade stands in the area.
“People always talk about how kids today need to get back to the basics, and when they do, they change their mind,” PamB2001 commented in an Instagram post , according to 27East.
