Watch out, Yankee fans, President Obama has taken aim at one of your favorite baseball players of all time.
During a fundraiser at the home of Las Vegas Sun newspaper owner Brian Greenspun, Obama told a story about how Greenspun and former Yankee’s shortstop Derek Jeter “stole” money from him during a golf game in November 2014.
“He [Greenspun] and Derek Jeter stole money from me at Shadow Creek,” Obama said referring to a golf course in North Las Vegas. “It was clearly a setup, because when we got to the practice range, he was shanking balls everywhere. I said, ‘You play golf Derek?’ And he said, ‘I just started two weeks ago.’”
Obama said they gave Jeter 30 strokes but he didn’t need them because Jeter annihilated him.
“We had to take a picture of me handing Derek Jeter money at the end of the game,” Obama said. “Despite that, Brian is a great friend.”
With all of Obama’s practice playing golf it’s surprising anyone could defeat him.
Talk about a sore loser.
