Sheriff Clarke: ‘You cannot point a gun at a police officer and expect nothing to happen’

Bream ClarkeSheriff David Clarke is tired of people protesting when police kill criminals who pose a danger to the community.

The Milwaukee County sheriff appeared Thursday on Fox News’ “The Kelly File” and blasted those who gathered in St. Louis to protest the shooting of Mansur Ball-Bey, 18, who allegedly had pointed a gun at police as they chased him from a crack house.

“Young black men are going to have to realize that authority figures have to be respected,” Clarke told guest host Shannon Bream. “You cannot point a gun at a police officer and expect nothing to happen. You cannot, you will not, you shall not point a firearm at a law enforcement officer.”

Meanwhile, there were no such protests over the shooting of 9-year-old Jamyla Bolden, who was in her home on her mother’s bed doing homework when she was killed, prompting the Wisconsin sheriff to say it’s an example of why he calls the Black Lives Matter movement “Black Lies Matter.”

“This movement tries to make it seem like police are the problem, yet we see this black-on-black crime go on just continually,” Clarke said. “Not too far from that scene where that 9-year-old was, a Tuskegee airmen, 93-years-old, was held up at gunpoint, there was a bullet-riddled building nearby, another homicide, and you didn’t see this mob really gather out and demand that something, you know, within the black community be done to change this. No, they want to make it about the police.

“What happened with this 9-year-old is just an inconvenience for this group to try to keep the focus on the anti-police movement going on across America,” he said. “And it is having devastating consequences for good, law-abiding black people.”
