Trump tells MSNBC why Hillary needs to win just to stay out of JAIL

morning-joe-trump-topperThe federal five-year statute of limitations may be Hillary Clinton’s friend — or her undoing.

If the former secretary of state Hillary Clinton is going to pay for her mishandling of classified information, GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump emphasized the importance of a Republican entering the White House.

A Democrat will never bring charges against Hillary — especially if that Democrat is named Hillary Rodham Clinton.

By the time a Republican assumes office again, the statute of limitations will have run in her favor.

Trump made this observation during a telephone interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Thursday.

“Morning Joe” tweeted a clip of their exchange:

“I’ve got to agree with you,” host Joe Scarborough said. “If this were a Republican, somebody would already be indicted.”

Trump compared Clinton’s situation to that of former CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus.

“Petraeus, on documents that were not nearly as important — and far fewer documents — his life has been destroyed,” Trump said.

Petraeus was able to avoid prison time by pleading to a misdemeanor charge of removing and retaining classified information.

“What’s interesting is that if a Republican wins,” Trump continued, “you have a statute of limitations that’s at least five, and probably six years.”

Accordingly, “Hillary might really have to win this election,” he reasoned. “Hillary might be fighting for her life in more ways than one.”

In general, federal crimes prosecution must be initiated within five years of their commission.

It’s unclear what charges may be brought against Clinton at this point. However, a former federal prosecutor who preferred to remain anonymous told The Daily Mail that if Clinton “deleted a document – any document – ‘in contemplation of an investigation,’ that’s a felony. It’s called tampering with evidence,” he said.

This is under Title 18, Section 1519 of the U.S. Code, which was intended an an anti-shredding law. Ironically, it was approved and voted for in 2002 by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton.

It carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Those who “stump for the Trump” were in full agreement.
