Does Hillary’s attorney have security clearance to handle emails? Senator demands answers to good questions

Hillary Clinton’s personal attorney was privy to classified documents and one Republican senator is demanding to know why.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley fired off an email to Clinton’s attorney David Kendall on Friday, asking how and why he or his associates were given security clearance as it relates to the former secretary of state’s emails, and which government agency granted it, according to The Hill.

“The transmission of classified material to an individual unauthorized to possess it is a serious national security risk,” he wrote. “Moreover, if a person unauthorized to maintain custody of the classified materials does in fact maintain custody, it raises legitimate questions as to whether the information was properly secured from foreign governments and other entities.”

Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, also wanted to know when the emails were transferred to Kendall, according to The Hill.

“It appears the FBI has determined that your clearance is not sufficient to allow you to maintain custody of the emails,” the senator wrote.

He asked if Clinton’s or Kendall’s security clearances had been suspended since the FBI was informed by the inspector general that classified emails may have been mishandled.

The latest chapter in the Hillary email scandal also brought the ire of the Twitter community.
