According to the Hillary Clinton campaign, the ongoing FBI and Congressional investigations into her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state is just “nonsense.”
“The bottom line is this kind of nonsense comes with the territory of running for president,” Clinton’s communications director Jennifer Palmieri wrote in an email describing the situation to Democrat supporters Wednesday afternoon.
Actually, this seems to be the kind of “nonsense” that comes with the territory of using an unsecure private email server for official – and sometimes classified – work as secretary of state. After all, a federal judge hasn’t had to remind any other presidential candidates that they could potentially be facing perjury charges for anything recently.

The 720-word email, designed to calm the anxiety of supporters while the Justice Department investigates Clinton’s mishandling of sensitive information as secretary of state, came just a day after the presidential hopeful turned over her server and a thumb-drive of emails to the FBI.
Palmieri restated the claim that Clinton never used her personal email for classified exchanges as secretary of state, despite the fact that a federal intelligence community inspector general alerted Congress to at least two “top secret” emails discovered on the server.
Describing the investigation into Clinton as a “partisan witch-hunt designed to do political damage to Hillary,” the campaign email tried to argue that the ongoing investigations were nothing for the candidate or her supporters to worry about.
While the campaign might be successful in calming staunch Clinton supporters, convincing the rest of America to shrug off her mishandling of government communications might not be as easy. A Monmouth University poll found that 52 percent of voters say her emails “should be subjected to a criminal investigation,” according to the New York Post.
Maybe the Clinton campaign thinks that poll is just more run-of-the-mill “nonsense” with which presidential candidates must contend, but social media users certainly didn’t seem to think so.

Clinton’s blatant disregard for government protocol, and mishandling of classified information through her private email server in Chappaqua, New York, certainly isn’t “nonsense.”
Her campaign’s weak attempt to pass it off as typical election season politics, however, might fit that description pretty well.
