Rand Paul and Chris Christie go at it hard in surprise debate battle

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie exchanged verbal blows over the issue of NSA wiretapping Thursday night during Fox News’ Republican presidential debate.

“When you actually have to be responsible for doing this … we did it for seven years in my office,” Christie said. “Respecting civil liberties and protecting the homeland, and I will make no apologies ever for protecting the lives and the safety of the American people.”

Paul fired back, telling Christie, “I want to collect more records from terrorists but less records from innocent Americans.”
