The drama surrounding Thursday night’s Republican presidential primary debate just got ratcheted up a notch or two.
Donald Trump has been called plenty of names since getting into the Republican presidential primary, with “front-runner” being among the top choices, but did Jeb Bush, the man many expected be the front-runner, offer a few more colorful options to describe the business magnate?
Names such as “buffoon,” “clown” and “asshole?”
According to a Politico Magazine feature, which describes how Trump’s entry into the race upended the Republican field, the normally reserved, mild-mannered former Florida governor broke from character recently when talking to a party donor about Trump.
“His instinctive first reaction was to hold his tongue, and his advisers agreed the best option was to keep his distance from an interloper who wanted to drag him into a reality-show shouting match,” the Politico feature said.
Matthew McConaughey’s wife becomes a citizen – the legal
way – ‘so much respect, appreciation for this country’
But Bush found that holding his tongue was a challenge, especially went Trump began talking about immigration — Bush’s wife, Columba, is from Mexico.
Politico reported that “sources close to Bush” say his tongue discipline went out the window completely recently when the candidate was talking to the donor.
“Seriously, what’s this guy’s problem?” Bush reportedly asked the individual.
The sources said Bush went on to describe Trump as “a buffoon,” “clown” and “asshole.”
And guess who’s standing right next to Bush during the highly anticipated primary debate in Cleveland?
None other than The Donald himself, who has surely seen the Politico Magazine feature.
Trump supporters were not amused.
Rush Limbaugh: Jeb Bush called Donald Trump a clown, buffoon, and an a**hole. Doesn’t sound presidential to me.

@DRUDGE_REPORT @JebBush feels entitled to the role of #POTUS. I won’t vote for another Bush. @realDonaldTrump #TheDonaldOnTop #Trump2016

@DRUDGE_REPORT Yeah, “Jeb!” should run for president of Mexico. He seems to want that voting bloc over the GOP conservative base.

Even the Trump-haters at The New York Times sense a problem for Bush in the report.
That Jeb calls Trump an a-hole privately but calls for civility publicly is gonna do wonders for him w the base http://t.co/bfnGqSTpcg

Jeb and the base? That train left a long time ago.
