The United States Senate doesn’t seem to have enough backbone to take a stand against Planned Parenthood, but Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal sure does.
The Republican presidential hopeful announced on Monday that his state would be terminating its Medicaid contract with the abortion provider in the wake of undercover videos revealing the organization’s plan to sell aborted baby parts.
“In recent weeks, it has been shocking to see reports of the alleged activities taking place at Planned Parenthood facilities across the country,” Jindal said, according to the statement.
Saying that Planned Parenthood “shows a fundamental disrespect for human life,” Jindal expressed that the organization has no right to receive taxpayers’ hard earned money.
“It has become clear that this is not an organization that is worthy of receiving public assistance from the state,” he said.
Louisiana is one of at least nine states that have opened up investigations into the abortion provider after an anti-abortion group began releasing undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of aborted “fetal tissue.”
Jindal and the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals will be giving the abortion provider the required 30-days notice, but could cancel the Medicaid provider agreement sooner if the current investigation into the group shows any evidence of illegal activity.
With the Senate unwilling to stand up against Planned Parenthood’s use of public funds, the governor’s decision to do so won him quick approval among conservatives on social media.
@theblaze @BobbyJindal There’s 1 Gov. being true to his beliefs. Any others care to stand up?
