President Barack Obama is pivoting to climate change efforts Monday, and you can expect your power bill to “necessarily skyrocket” as a result.
And White House press secretary Josh Earnest understands you might “squeal” over the president’s actions.
Following in the footsteps of his controversial — some would say unconstitutional — executive overreach on immigration, Obama is expected to announce tougher regulations for power plants requiring them to cut emissions of carbon dioxide output by 32 percent, according to The Hill.
CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller shared Earnest’s remarks on social media:

Continuing to work on securing his legacy as the 44th president of the United States in the waning days of his final term, Obama moves to circumvent Congress again in implementing the “historic” regulations through executive fiat — even though polls continue to show that climate change is not a top concern to the American public.
But then, the president was very up front about the war on coal, saying as much on the campaign trial in January 2008.
And the American people still elected him. Twice.
The reaction on social media was summed up by one user who noted that the middle-class is gonna have to pay for it, before asking: “Why does he hate us?”
